Step by Step Preparedness — for the house you already live in
Practical household preparedness for normal guys, dads, and households. Start with what helps life today. Build toward harder days only when you’re ready.
Most “prep” content jumps straight to the worst case. We don’t. The Ready House is a people-leader channel that walks household readiness in order — calm, checklist-first, on camera — so your family gets useful habits before anyone talks about collapse.
Step by Step Preparedness is the method. You finish the boring, dual-use stuff that makes Tuesday better (batteries that actually charge, a docs folder you can find, water you already drink) before you chase harder scenarios. Completing an early step does not mean you’re ready for a late one.
We film in color bands, not hype letters. Blue is better-life-now dual-use. Green is short-term, local disruption — stores still open, services still mostly work. From there the spine moves Yellow → Orange → Red, with Black reserved for clearly labeled fiction. First film locked: Green Water #21 — Prepping for Temporary and Local Water Disruption.
How Step by Step Preparedness / Blue→Black works
Think of readiness like climbing a ladder, not collecting vibes.
- Blue — Stuff that helps your house now and still helps if things get worse (rechargeable batteries + a charger you’ll use, pantry rotation, printed contacts). Not bunker gear.
- Green — Temporary and local bumps: main break, short outage, boil notice. Services still exist; you’re buying calm, not theater.
- Yellow — Longer / uglier stretches (days to a rough week). Consequence-based, not cause-label cosplay.
- Orange / Red — Rare, late, honest about how hard they are. Finishing Blue or Green does not equal Red-ready.
- Black — Fiction / entertainment, clearly labeled. Least probable. Late on purpose.

What we don’t do
- Scout theater — no badges, no pretend ranks, no youth-camp cosplay for adults.
- Collapse-first — we don’t open the front door with Road Warrior / end-of-world as the default pitch.
- Gear porn — we don’t sell you a garage full of kit before you’ve labeled the water shutoff.
- ATAK / tactic-bro framing — not in v1; not the brand front door.
- Official-agency cosplay — we are not Ready.gov / FEMA and don’t claim to be.
